GAP Together

Stronger communities through connection.

GAP Together is our proposed community wellbeing and participation programme, bringing people together through shared experiences, accessible activities and opportunities to learn, connect and contribute.

We believe belonging matters. When people feel connected to their communities, they are better placed to access opportunities, support one another and participate with confidence.

Why community connection matters

Social isolation, financial pressure and limited access to activities affect many individuals and families. GAP Together aims to reduce barriers to inclusion, strengthen social connections and create opportunities for shared experiences.

It is for individuals and families who experience disadvantage, isolation or other barriers to community participation, in line with our charitable purposes.

Community gatherings and conversations

Welcoming gatherings and facilitated conversations that bring people together and help build local support networks.

Family activities and shared experiences

Affordable or funded family activities, outings and shared experiences that promote positive relationships and participation.

Wellbeing and movement

Accessible activities such as walking groups, gentle movement, introductory fitness or wellbeing sessions, led by appropriately qualified facilitators where required.

Opportunities for fathers and male carers

Opportunities for fathers and male carers to connect, share experiences and take part in positive family and community activities.

Community learning and practical skills

Practical workshops that help adults build confidence, knowledge and everyday skills.

Community voice and co-design

Opportunities for participants to identify local needs, propose activities and influence how GAP Education develops. Activities will be informed by community consultation.

Accessibility, inclusion and safeguarding

Every activity will be assessed against our charitable purpose, accessibility, cost, safeguarding, participant need and available resources before it is offered. Activities involving children or adults at risk will follow our safeguarding procedures.

Intended outcomes and evaluation

We aim to support stronger social connections, greater confidence and participation, positive family relationships and fewer barriers to community opportunities.

Evaluation may include participation records, feedback, wellbeing and confidence measures where appropriate, and community consultation. Read about our approach.
